If you haven’t had any luck using in vitro fertilization, you may wish to consider adding acupuncture. Research worldwide has shows that combining IVF with acupuncture may lead to 26 percent more pregnancies. One study in Colorado found that for women who had at least 11 acupuncture treatments had the greatest success in getting pregnant. Other studies have also shown an increased success rate for IVF when combined with acupuncture, and that fewer treatments generally resulted in a lower success rate.
The theory as to how acupuncture can help is that it may improve uterine blood flow, which could help move fertility medicine to the ovaries and nurture eggs, as well as prepare the uterus for implantation. Relieving stress through acupuncture may also even out hormone problems that cause infertility.
